Ministry of New and Renewable Energy (MNRE), New Delhi has discontinued subsidy on Solar Water Heating System in India from 1st October 2014.
Presently, there is no subsidy or any government incentive is not available on domestic, institutional or industrial solar water heaters in Gujarat.
People who have not yet installed solar water heaters at residence, institute or industries need not panic due to non-availability of subsidy on solar water heaters as even without any subsidy benefit, one can get return of investment (payback of money invested) on solar water heaters only within 2.5 years due to mass production and competitive market of solar water heaters in Gujarat.
People who plan to install solar water heaters can take opinion of the customers who are already using solar water heaters since last 3 to 10 years for the benefits of this hot successful product, after sales service of the supplier and take feedback of the quality of the product supplied to the existing users of the solar water heaters. Institutional or industrial/ commercial customers can easily get payback of investment on solar water heater within 2 years only.
